“Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.” – Psalm 86:11
Our Wednesday evening gatherings are designed primarily for Christian education. We frequently study the basics of the Reformed Faith. Included is a time for a fellowship and prayer. People who study together often form friendships and support structures that are of great benefit in the Christian walk.
The Apostle Peter had firsthand experience in falling away. He is in fact the prime example of God’s preserving grace. It is out of this heavy concern that Peter writes a second letter. In his second letter, over the span of 4 verses, Peter expresses his desire that no other Christians would follow his path of doubt and abandonment.
2Pe 1:12-14 says, “Therefore I intend always to remind you of these qualities, though you know them and are established in the truth that you have. I think it right, as long as I am in this body, to stir you up by way of reminder, since I know that the putting off of my body will be soon, as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me. And I will make every effort so that after my departure you may be able at any time to recall these things.”
The fact is, if we are not in the habit of Christian study and fellowship, we will suffer through periods of spiritual dryness. We need interaction with the body of Christ more often than for a few hours on Sunday morning. This discipleship and training is what we seek to provide on Wednesday nights. The classes usually range from 4-6 weeks. So, commit to a class and bring your thinking caps and delve into God’s Word with the expectation of growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. (2Peter 3:18)
